The organiser of the Friendship Nations Group has announced changes in the way
adverts from member micronations will be posted in the “self-promotion” channel of
the FNG Discord server.
Until recently, members of the group who had an advertising partnership with the FNG
were given direct access to the self-promotion channel, where they could post the
ads themselves.
The procedure has now changed, and it will no longer be necessary to have an
advertising partnership with the group. Micronations wishing to place an ad in this
channel can do so by contacting the server admin.
Only micronations that are members of the FNG can place ads in the self-promotion
channel by sending the ad to the group organiser who will place the ad on their
behalf.
Advertising partnerships were introduced on 1 Dec 2025 in an effort to promote
member micronations “fairly and equally”. These worked reasonably well, with most
members making good use of this privilege.
Access to the self-promotion channel was recently abused by a former member
called The Republic of Nomashae, who posted criticism of the FNG in that channel
just 24 hours after being given access via an advertising partnership.
As of the date of this document, all advertising partnerships between the FNG and its
members are now cancelled. Micronations wishing to place an ad in the self-
promotion channel can do so by contacting the server admin.
The Friendship Nations Group organiser has confirmed that a chat has been created for
members of the FNG on the Discord server, something that a minority of members were
asking for.
The new chat channel is different from other Discord chats because all the messages
posted by members are automatically deleted by a Discord bot that has been installed
especially to carry out his task.
The original idea was proposed by the Republic of Lumora, who has been a member of the
group since 9 March 2026. Upon hearing the suggestion, the organiser installed the bot on
the same day.
The organiser of the FNG has named the new channel with the chat the “fast chat”
because it gives users only 40 seconds to read and post messages before they are
deleted permanently.
The organiser of the FNG has been reluctant to open a chat in the server in the past, as
this has led to problems for the group with trolls, spammers and raiders. The organiser is
confident that this problem has now been resolved.
To help new members of the Friendship Nations Group create their own micronational
flags, the group organiser has developed a flag-generating app that has been
embedded on the Neocities website.
The flag generator was successfully developed by the FNG organiser with the help of
AI, with the sole purpose of resolving the problem often faced by new micronations,
mainly, that lack of a flag design.
The flag generator creates flags in all styles and colours imaginable, with unique
styles and even symbols, all generated automatically at the push of a button. The new
app has been added to the navigation bar under the name “create”
The Friendship Nations Group is currently celebrating its annual summit, with 10
micronations attending. Details of the summit can be found on this page
The organiser of the Friendship Nations Group has announced a new course
prepared by Samizdat University called, Functions and Duties of the Head of
State in a Micronation.
The new course is now available to group members on its Neocities site along
with three other courses on micronational topics. These courses are proving
to be popular among Friendship Nations Group members.
The new course is presented in video format and examines the functions and
duties of a micronational head of state. This course should prove useful to
most micronations, in particular new micronations.
The new course includes a test and a personalised certificate for those
students who achieve a 50% pass rate. Samizdat University hopes to produce
at least one course in 2027 on a similar topic.
To help prospective members of the Friendship Nations Group decide if they
should join the group, the FNG organiser has created a basic FAQ (Frequently
Asked Questions) and added it to the Neocities page.
The new FAQ appears on the main menu between the “about us” and “guidelines”
sections, as this is where visitors to the group page would expect to find
this section. All three sections have been added recently.
The organiser of the FNG hopes that the new FAQ will answer the most important
questions or doubts micronations that are considering joining this group may
have. This will save time and make the process more efficient.
The new FAQ contains 7 sections, each with a typical question often asked by
micronational leaders when looking to inform themselves. The organiser may add
additional information in the future if it is considered necessary.
The FNG organiser has confirmed that an online newsletter called The FNG Gazette
has been launched to provide members of the group with the latest news relating to
the Friendship Nations Group.
The format of the newsletter is similar to that of an online newspaper, with a slightly
formal look that reminds some members of a certain financial newspaper because of
the background colour of the Neocities website.
The current editor of the newsletter is the group organiser himself, but hopes are high
that a member of the FNG will agree to take on the task of editing the newsletter in
the future.
Much of the news content that will appear in the new gazette will be taken directly
from the archive section of the Neocities website, though some additional material
will also be included.
The editor of the ‘FNG Gazette’ has invited members of the Friendship Nations Group
to add their own news articles to the gazette but has requested that articles be kept
brief for lack of space.
In most cases, a link to a longer version of the article can always be included in the
body of the article so that readers can read the full version of the article, which will
probably be located on a different website.
The founder of the newsletter hopes members of the group will make full use of this
latest initiative and that it will provide members with a means to gain additional
visibility within the FNG.
The FNG events organiser has confirmed that the exact number of micronational
members in the Friendship Nations Group now stands at 101.
The chat box on the Neocities website received a message from an anonymous user
to ask about the number of members in the group. When these were counted, it
turned out to be exactly 100.
The number of members joining the FNG has grown steadily over the past months
with a massive upsurge in the summer months, with 5 new members in just one day
(31 July 2026).
Reaching 100+ members is a clear sign that the format and structure of the group
have been a success. The founder and organiser of the FNG believes that the group
should continue with this formula.
The FNG organiser has published details of two vacancies within the Friendship
Nations Group for volunteers who may be interested.
The first vacancy is for the welcoming channel in the Discord server, where friendship
agreements are posted along with a welcome message.
There is also a vacancy for a newsletter editor. This involves producing a monthly
newsletter from information provided by the FNG organiser. Applicants must have
good English skills and knowledge of newsletter layout.
The organiser of the FNG is asking those members of the group who may be
interested to send a DM.
The FNG organiser would like to thank ⳩ Et Aurum ⳩ for agreeing to run the
anniversaries channel on the Discord server of the group.
The FNG organiser has published a guide for group members in the form of an
educational breakdown of the type of behaviours that are discouraged within the
group.
The guidelines identify the behaviours of toxic individuals that often lead to project
failure and should be discouraged by all members within the Friendship Nations
Group.
The guidelines also mention the main reasons for these types of behaviours and how
to avoid them within the FNG. The new guidelines have been drawn up with new and
current members in mind.
The Friendship Nations Group organiser has confirmed that an alternative to the now
defunct MicroWiki page has been successfully launched in the new MicroPedia created
recently.
The new wiki for the Friendship Nations Group Friendship Nations Group is fully updated with accurate information
about the history of the group, as well as a brief description of recent issues encountered
by the FNG organiser.
The official FNG wiki contains graphics and logos of some of the cultural events
organised by this group and contact information.
The Neocities website has received another quick facelift with the addition of an
‘about us’ section that will serve to inform potential new members about the FNG and
hopefully answer any questions or doubts they may have.
The new addition to the webpage is divided into four parts, including a section that
informs visitors to the group page about what the group does, which includes details
of the cultural events that the FNG organises.
Other sections inform those interested about the ‘perks & recognition’ members
receive when they participate in events and contribute to the group activities. These
perks include a membership card, a national anthem box, and annual medals.
Finally, a ‘join this group’ Discord button has been added to the new section to ensure
that those interested in joining the group have access to the FNG’s Discord server.
This part also mentions membership requirements.
The Friendship Nations Group welcomes the following new members to the
group in September 2026:
